The Board of Directors of Living Is Finally Enjoyable W-S, Inc., are happy to announce that the organization acquired its first single-family, transitional home for a family with children on May 1, 2024, and the first family moved in on May 11, the Saturday before Mother’s Day. (Images Below)
L.I.F.E W-S, Inc., will provide rent, water, electricity, gas, basic cable, and Internet service. The house has been fully furnished with help from board members, donors, and friends of L.I.F.E W-S, Inc., including A Bed and A Book, GreeNest, and WS/FCS’s Project Hope.
Project HOPE is dedicated to ensuring that all children and young people experiencing homelessness have access to the educational services to which they are entitled under the federal McKinney-Vento Act. As of May 2024, there are 1,129 unhoused children in the WS/FCS system, according to Project HOPE.
While they are in the residence, the family will be assisted by L.I.F.E W-S, Inc., in working with the Experiment in Self-Reliance and Financial Pathway to learn the skills they need on their journey to independent living. L.I.F.E W-S, Inc., will help them acquire day-care vouchers, summer programs, and find a job, and a vehicle.
L.I.F.E W-S, Inc., serves as a bridge from homelessness to independent, sustainable living by equipping families in housing crises with the necessary skills for success, and addressing barriers, limitations, and needs, until Living Is Finally Enjoyable for all the families we serve in Winston-Salem.
